Forgemasters pursue strong market objectives

Delegates from around the globe came together to discuss strategies for continual diversification into niche markets at Sheffield Forgemasters’ (SFIL) annual sales conference.
The conference prioritised sales strategies for the forthcoming year within different divisions of the company, and included discussions about capitalising on new markets including energy, oil fields in the North Sea and expansion of offshore contracts globally, especially in the Gulf of Mexico and off the coast of Africa.
Graham Honeyman, chief executive at Sheffield Forgemasters, led the charge highlighting the challenges the company has faced during the tough economic climate but also the opportunities for progression and growth in the future.
Dr Honeyman highlighted the crucial role the sales team, along with investment in research and development, play in keeping Forgemasters at the forefront of engineering as it continues to push the boundaries of project innovation and development, and expand further into specialist areas and projects.
Volker Schaffer, sales director at SFIL and also the chair of the conference, said: “The annual conference is an integral part of the strategy going forward for SFIL, taking the different global markets into account with presentations by international delegates from countries including China, Germany, USA and Canada.
SFIL representatives from across the globe gave presentations into the opportunities that lie ahead in 2011, focusing in particular on the 4,000 tonne press expansion by the new project management subsidiary Steel Propeller.
