Forgemasters is most impressive company

The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Ian Luder, has lavished praise on leading engineering firm Sheffield Forgemasters International Limited (SFIL).
The Lord Mayor cited Forgemasters as the most impressive business he has visited in his official duties as he toured the firm's 64-acre Brightside Lane with Sheffield's Master Cutler, Martin Howell.
Later in the day, the Lord Mayor held talks with South Yorkshire business leaders at the Cutlers Hall before the annual Forfeit Feast of the Cutlers Company.
Lord Mayor Alderman Ian Luder said: "Forgemasters is the most impressive company I have visited in my year in office.
"It is an extremely high quality firm which delivers continued success and steady growth while also placing great emphasis on work-placed training, which is hugely important.
"It must also not be forgotten the kind of positive impact that an export company such as Forgemasters can have on the financial services sector. It is an excellent example of a top export company providing stimulus for the wider financial market."
Dr Graham Honeyman, SFIL chief executive, said: "The underlying strength of what we have achieved at Forgemasters is down to our commitment to diversity.
"We are not dependent on one area of manufacturing and that has allowed us to secure the company's future and face these times of market adversity in a very healthy position.
"The Lord Mayor showed a real interest in our business strategy and apprenticeship scheme and we were delighted to show him around the site. It's also very pleasing to know that the Master Cutler thought of us as a showcase company for the Lord Mayor's visit to Sheffield."
