21 July 2009
Sheffield Forgemasters took the only UK slot in key British manufacturer Brush Electrical Machines' 2009 supplier awards.
The Sheffield-based company won Strategic Supplier of the Year alongside steel product manufacturer C D Wälzholz GmbH (CDW) of Germany and Swedish open die forger Scana Steel Bjorneborg.
The accolade was presented at Brush's Strategic Supplier Conference at Nottingham East Midlands Airport and confirmed a 30-year relationship with the Loughborough-based manufacturing giant which confirmed sales of £250m last year.
Between 2008-09 Sheffield Forgemasters has supplied more than 70 rotors, weighing between 15-35 tonnes, to Brush Electrical to be used in the international oil and gas and power generation industries. Brush has manufacturing facilities in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, as well as the UK.
David Bunney, general sales manager at SFIL, who attended the seminar, said: "Sheffield Forgemasters has been working regularly with Brush since the 1970s. This has been a record year for them and we are delighted to be associated with their success and linked to a strongly performing UK company which has long term potential for the partnership to grow."
