Forgemasters staff forever learning
03 June 2009
Staff at Sheffield Forgemasters have proved you're never too old to learn.
Judith Hanson (46), David Fletcher (58) and Steve Tagg (57) have all recently completed their NVQ level 5 certificates, which are equivalent to a post-graduate qualification. Judith and David qualified in strategic management and Steve in human resources.
The qualifications, done in conjunction with The Leadership Academy, included coursework, one-to-one interviews, an assessed portfolio, looking at business development opportunities and troubleshooting at another organisation.
Judith said: "The courses were really informative and well run. All of the new skills and strategic management techniques I have taken on can now be put into practice at Forgemasters.
"I think we're the oldest people to be doing the qualifications at the company, so it shows you can never stop learning!"
As well as offering staff the opportunity to gain qualifications while at work, Forgemasters offers numerous graduate opportunities and currently employees 70 apprentices among its 800-strong workforce.
