Forgemasters to the rescue
Sheffield Forgemasters kindly offered to have the Lord Mayor of Sheffield's Chain of Office fixed when they heard that a part of the chain was missing.
Councillor Jackie Drayton was explaining the history of the chain at the International Forgemasters Conference, hosted by the 200-year-old engineering company, and mentioned that Thor's hammer had been lost for some years.
Graham Honeyman, Chief Executive at Sheffield Forgemasters, said: "We were pleased to be able to help in such a delicate matter. Forgemasters has a long Sheffield history and we wanted to help the mayor to continue in her civic duties with the official chains intact."
Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Jackie Drayton, said: "The city in which I serve is home to the country's largest engineering company, and it was very generous of Sheffield Forgemasters to offer to pay for the repair, so a big thank you to Sheffield Forgemasters for their help."
