Sheffield hosts largest IFM
09 October 2006
Four hundred delegates representing 140 organisations from 23 countries in 5 continents will converge on Sheffield for the biggest International Forgemasters Meeting on record.
Sheffield Forgemasters International (SFIL) will host the 16th International Forgemasters meeting organised by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining at the Cutlers Hall from October 15 to 19.
SFIL and the city will welcome chief executives, managing directors and senior players from across the globe for the 5-day conference which concludes with a plant visit to the Forgemasters' Brightside HQ.
Conference chairman and SFIL board member Peter Birtles said: "The hosting of this event is a wonderful opportunity for Forgemasters and Sheffield to further establish our stature and credibility within the sector. This is a hugely notable event for the worldwide open die forging industry.
"This will be larger than any of the IFM conferences previously held. The huge international presence is also enhanced by delegates from China which is now an industry giant and India who will be represented for the first time in such numbers."
