Quality and accreditations
To compete in the ever demanding markets and continue to be a world class manufacturer, Sheffield Forgemasters International has a total commitment to quality.
Over the years, Sheffield Forgemasters International has developed Quality Management Systems and gained accreditation to national and international standards, showing commitment to providing the best possible product and service to customers and a promise of continual development and improvement.
In addition to Sheffield Forgemasters International’s accreditation to the BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard gained in 1991, it is proud to be approved by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a Material Organization Quality System Certificate Holder, certifying the company to the ASME Nuclear Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
This prestigious accreditation, received in 1992, enables Sheffield Forgemasters International to supply critical components into the nuclear market. It also holds ASME NPT status allowing weld assembly/fabrication on both cast or forged components to be used within nuclear power stations.
These accreditations, along with other product specific certificates from TUV, DNV, ABS, Bureau Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd, Lloyds Register, customer approval to the RCC-M French Nuclear code and from blue chip organisations such as Rolls Royce, demonstrate the Sheffield Forgemasters International group of companies commitment to quality.
The Group Quality Director, along with a highly experienced team, ensures the best possible practices and procedures are in place throughout the organisation.
A QA presence in each area of the organisation monitors the day-today activities while a central quality function carries out a comprehensive internal audit programme, maintains the Quality Management Systems, ensures subcontractors can achieve the high standards expected and provides support to the numerous departmental improvement and development initiatives.
These activities, coupled with an intense schedule of second and third party audits, regular departmental quality meetings and Board reviews to determine the group Quality Policy and set measurable annual quality objectives, help ensure continuing compliance and retain approval status.
Quality is the responsibility of every employee of Sheffield Forgemasters International and this begins at the top with the Chief Executive. Quality awareness and training are an important part of the development of each member of the workforce. Therefore, in addition to general quality indoctrinations, detailed code and standard specific training sessions are held to highlight the more complex requirements applied to our high integrity standards.
A quality product demands the total commitment from a quality company. Utilising our skilled workforce, product expertise, proven systems and procedures, Sheffield Forgemasters International continues to provide a manufacturing, engineering and testing service of a consistently high quality that safely and reliably meets and seeks to exceed specified requirements agreed with the customer.
