Sheffield Forgemasters complete charity 24-hour Indoor Rowing Challeng

Published: 17 October 2024

A large group of Sheffield Forgemasters employees have completed a 24-hour indoor rowing challenge to raise funds for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, as part of the wider #TeamDNE effort.

The challenge took place across the UK at a range of locations, with teams are embracing a one team ethos, something key to the Defence Nuclear Enterprise mission: “deliver nuclear capabilities, deter the threat, protect the nation.”

Well done to all members of staff that completed the challenge here at Sheffield Forgemasters and all of the other teams across the country. Including, the Defence Nuclear Organisation, Submarine Delivery Agency, Automatic Weapons Establishment, the 43 Commando of the Royal Navy, Maritime Operations Centre, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems.

The Sheffield Forgemasters rowed a total of 333,167 metres during the challenge. With the furthest distance covered in 10 mins completed by Rob Bricklebank from our Machine Shop, who clocked in 2845 metres. Rob's effort pipped Scott Evans from our finance team, who rowed 2840 metres and Dan Coggan from the company's Non-Destructive Testing department who completed 2665 metres.

We are delighted to announce that fundraising for this effort has amassed over £4,450 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. The JustGiving donation page is still live if you would like to donate to show support for our team's efforts: Sheffield Forgemasters is fundraising for Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (justgiving.com)
