First ever city apprentice awards evening
Published: 5 September 2014Sheffield's first ever Employers' Apprentice of the Year will be announced at a fundraising dinner organised by Forgemasters' young employees.
The event, which will raise cash for Sheffield Mencap, has been planned by a team from Sheffield Forgemasters and has attracted entries from high profile companies with apprentices from across the region.
Those companies putting forward submissions include AESSEAL, PwC, Rotherham College, Hallamshire Engineering Services Ltd, Abbey Forged Products and Kennedys Law.
Tickets are still available for the event which takes place at Sheffield United's Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane next Friday (September 12) from 7pm.
The event, which includes a 3-course meal, live band Redfern, comedian Zack Stevens and magician Steve Faulkner, is endorsed and supported by Sheffield Forgemasters' chief executive Dr Graham Honeyman, who is a patron of Sheffield Mencap.
Apprentices Josh Johnson, Bradley McDonald, Dan Millington, Amy Fretwell, Dominic Jones, Harry Pearce-Hurst and Max Goodall have organised the event.
Max Goodall said: "We are hoping this award will become an annual event on the calendar for anyone with successful apprentices."
The money raised from the event will go towards funding Sheffield Mencap's work to help change the lives of people with learning disabilities across the city.
