Football Tournament Scores Big for Sheffield Mind
Published: 18 June 2026This year's summer of football kicked off with the Sheffield Forgemasters annual charity football tournament at the Steel City Stadium on Wednesday 10 June, where 16 teams made up entirely of Sheffield Forgemasters employees and embedded on-site contractors competed for the trophy. Melt Shop Maintenance emerged victorious, lifting the title for the third consecutive year.
The final was a closely contested affair. After a goalless 0-0 draw in normal time, Melt Shop Maintenance defeated T Cutts Electrical in a penalty shootout to secure the title in a repeat of last year's final.
The winning squad consisted of Shaun Rutkowski, Charlie Gledhill-Carr, Conran Widdison, Chris Beach, Luke McCrathy, Joe Ashworth, Tom Snookes, Rob King and Alex Wilkinson.
The victory adds to the team's previous tournament successes in 2022, 2024 and 2025, with Machine Shop 'A' being the only team to interrupt their hot streak by winning the competition in 2023.
The biggest winners of the night, however, were Sheffield Mind. An incredible £3,031 was raised for Sheffield Forgemasters' 2026 charity partner, surpassing the company's ambitious £3,000 fundraising target.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who contributed by taking part in the tournament, supporting colleagues from the sidelines, donating raffle prizes, or purchasing raffle tickets. Your generosity helped make the event a success.
