CEO Gary Nutter confirmed as Made in Yorkshire Awards 2025 keynote speaker

Published: 30 January 2025

Sheffield Forgemasters' Chief Executive Officer, Gary Nutter, has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for Insider’s Made in Yorkshire manufacturing awards.

Gary, who took up the role at Sheffield Forgemasters in March 2024, has significant experience in global business leadership, most recently serving as CEO and director of aerospace engineering group RLC Aerospace, following careers at Kongsberg Marine and Rolls-Royce.

He was placed on Insider’s Power 100 list this year, which highlights the people in Yorkshire and the Humber who have the power of positive influence on the local economy.

Gary is leading the company, as it undergoes a large recapitalisation programme, following its acquisition by the Ministry of Defence in 2021, which will see its Brightside Lane site transformed through the construction of the UK’s largest open-die forging line and a new machining facility. The programme is designed to secure long-term sovereign capability for the UK and its allies by recapitalising defence-critical equipment and improving efficiencies.

The Made in Yorkshire Awards returns to New Dock Hall at Leeds’ Royal Armouries on Thursday, 6 March 2025. Now in its 13th year, the black-tie dinner recognises the most innovative and dynamic manufacturers across Yorkshire and the Humber, and the products they are making here and selling on a global scale.

The audience will hear from Gary about the proud heritage of the Sheffield-based engineering giant and how it is working to transform its production capabilities. He will also share his thoughts on the strengths and resilience of Yorkshire’s illustrious manufacturing community.
