Queens Award for International Trade 2008

Forgemasters' third Queen's award - this time in the International Trade category in the 2008 awards - announced on the Queen's birthday on April 21. It follows Export and Technology Awards in 1989 and 1997 respectively.

 

Learning Skills Council (LSC) Clive W Leach Award for Outstanding Contribution to Training by a Company 2008

Awarded by the LSC for SFIL's outstanding contribution to apprenticeships.

 

HSBC Outstanding Business of the Year, Sheffield Business Awards 2007

Named the winner of HSBC's Outstanding Business of the Year accolade at the 2007 Sheffield Business Awards.

 

Gold Award for Manufacturing Excellence 2007

Awarded by The Cutlers Company and presented to chief executive Graham Honeyman by Alderman John Stuttard, the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of the City of London for the huge success achieved in growing the business after a management buy-out in 2005.

 

The Standing Ovation Award in 2006

Awarded by specialist business advisers and chartered accountants gvt (goodband viner taylor) and the Sheffield Telegraph, for great determination and contribution to the British steel industry and the regional and national economies.

 

Yorkshire's Deal of the Year 2006

Sheffield Forgemasters took the Best Deal under £10m from EN Magazine for the 2005 management buy-out.

Readers of the magazine and website visitors nominated the company to make the shortlist due to the complexity of the MBO deal.


Cast Component of the Year Award 2006

Awarded by the Cast Metals Federation, for Europe's largest ever steel casting at 325 tonne - made for the vast Bohler Press in Austria.

The Cast Metals Federation Awards are the industry's Oscars and show the ‘Best of British Casting', showcasing the innovations and achievements of the UK foundry industry.

 

EEF Young Engineer of the Year Award 2005/6

Electrician Shaun Rochester was awarded the 2005/6 EEF Young Engineer of the Year Award.

 

Metals Industry Apprentice of the Year 2005

Sheffield Forgemasters won the 2005 Metals Industry Apprentice of the Year (MIAY) - coordinated by the metals industry's skills body, MetSkill. Graduates also finished second, third and fourth in the 2006 awards.
