Ladle steelmaking through VOD and VAD facilities enables a full range of carbon, alloy and stainless steels to be melted in multi-ladle quantities up to 570 tonnes.

In-house manufacturing facilities at Sheffield Forgemasters, including the 2,500 and 10,000 tonne presses, can produce steel forgings up to 200 tonnes. 

The foundry capabilities can offer steel castings from one to 350 tonnes, single piece weight and a maximum size of 16.5 x 7.5 x 4.6 metres.

Comprehensive heat treatment facilities are centrally controlled and monitored for horizontal and vertical processing up to 25 metres long. Testing is carried out in all key stages of manufacturing. 

Engineering also has a wide range of machining facilities to handle assemblies of any length up to 25 metres and  diameters up to 6.3 metres. 

The company also undertakes process research and materials development programmes.
